CULTURE COLLECTION AGRO-FOOD IMPORTANT MICRORGANISMS

Info

A culture collection of important agro-food microorganisms is mantained in the Institute of Sciences of Food Productions. The collection has about 9,300 strains belonging to various genera of noteworthy phytopathological, toxicological and agro-food importance, such us Aspergillus, Alternaria, Beauveria, Fusarium, Penicillium, Trichoderma, Saccharomices etc. The strains are kept as single spore cultures or by fresh cultures on agar, or by crio-conservation in water and glycerol (18%) at –150°C in liquid nitrogen. The fungal collection belongs to the European Culture Collection Organization (ECCO).
